Hello, I have a laptop from 2008. I am going to swap out the 2 RAM boards to speed it up.

My question doesn't concern the RAM though. When I opened up the back to investigate, I found another board that's by itself, next to a slot that's clearly ready for that board's partner.

I wish I could attach a photo, but apparently I can't. Does anybody know what this board sitting by itself is?

And if I install this board's partner in the empty slot next to it, will my computer work any better?

thanks much. I know without a photo that an answer might be hard to obtain.

thanks for your answer, yes, again, it's the inability to attach a photo that makes it difficult to explain what i see. i swapped out the 2 ram boards for 2 other ram boards that brought it up to 4 gb. i just don't know what the other board is. i do know it's connected with 2 wires to the hard drive. does that sound familiar to you?
