I have a msi ge72vr and I just got back from a 4 day trip to turn on my pc and see that it has a loading windows dot circle stuck and after a while it freezes. I entered safe mode and saw that both my drives are both working and I am able to see and enter the files within them. I have already wiped the drives before because of this issue and would love not having to do that again. This laptop has been nothing but issues since I received it. Please help

Solution
Note: If this problem started after an update (or system reinstall), please make sure the laptop is not connected to the internet in any way before you use the following instructions.

Try the following...

1. Power off the laptop.
2. Power on the laptop.
3. As soon as you see the rotating loading circle, press and hold the Power Button until the computer shuts off.
4. Repeat this process a few times until you see the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen.
5. Now you want to let the laptop boot to the "Automatic Repair" screen.
6. Click "Advanced Options" and then select "Troubleshoot".
7. Here you want to select "Refresh your PC", if you do not wish to erase data, or "Reset your PC" to erase all data and restore your system.
8. From here...

NOTE: You will need to get into the "Advanced Options" in order to get the "Refresh Option". This choice will keep your data, but any programs installed will be lost.

Do not do a "Reset" as that will wipe all data you have on the laptop.

The startup repair says that it cannot repair and I am only seeing reset or system restore. If i choose to keep all my personal files in the system restore will it keep everything that is currently there or does it delete some things in the process. I have steam games installed on my hard drive. I also forgot to mention that my windows install is on a ssd and then I have a 1tb hard drive as well which holds most of my other stuff.
