Booting problem on acer travelmate celeron processor

am having problem with my old lap on starting it.. pls help me.. i donno wat to do..! .. the boot menu also not responding well....

What model number Acer Travelmate?
What operating system?
Do you have backup/restore disks?
What exactly, as best as you can describe, happens when you attempt to start up?
