Question Bose AV38 to LG OLED65E7P the communities help please setting up

I require some help please. I am not as cleaver as I once was.

I have an older BOSE AV 38 lifestyle media centre I would like to hook up to a LG OLED65E7P TV. I have read through some of the threads here, but I am still confused . I would like to play both the cable TV box and the Amazon fire box sound through the BOSE. Could someone please try to explain it to me, like I was a 5 year old?

I can't even seem to attach the three thumbnails I have of the back panels into this thread.

From what I can see the Bose 38 has an optical input, just use the TV optical output and connect that to the Bose system. Did this not work for you?

Yes I am an idiot. ( not really) Thank you. I believe that I tried the optical cable before. After reading your reply I went back to square one, planning on reporting back, so we could start trouble shooting. It WORKS now. Perhaps I did not have the optical cable plugged in correctly.
