bose speaker hooked up to TV

I have a Bose soundock portable speaker. it has ipod connection in the front and 3.5mm AUX input in the back. I want to hook this speaker up to my TV (LG LED). TV is connected via HDMI and there is no audio aux input on back of TV. there is an optical audio connection available on the back of the TV. is this the best route?

Optical cable will give you better sound quality vs analog anyway. If the speaker has optical input, then go for it!

Since the speaker doesn't have an optical input you need one of these:

to connect it. If you use a set top box that has analog audio out you can bypass the TV and connect it directly.

Don't bother dropping 40$ I got one off amazon for 12$ works perfect
