This can not happen in America without a major change to our constitution. Thanks to Amendment IV we wont have cameras in our living rooms. Now we just need to wake up and realize the patriot act violates this.

[citation][nom]montezuma[/nom]You think this could not happen in the United States? Hmmm, I wonder how many people would not have thought that government run health care would never be possible?[/citation]
Health Care is never addressed in the Constitution.

[citation][nom]chaohsiangchen[/nom]How about you people try different approach called "Second Amendment" and give pardon to Tony Martin.[/citation]

And what exactly does that have to do with this CCTV article?

This is pretty crazy lol, if they are such bad parents they need to have cameras monitoring them they really should just take the kids. But I guess installing a camera is a lot cheaper than foster care.

@LePhuronn
+1
u guys in the U.S.A. have no idea of the situation with some of the familys hell areas of britan
u think a trailer park is bad? try a council block of flats then tell me u dont want the phuckers cctv'd
sad truth? most of the familys that will have this installed will find the cameras steal them and sell them and thats a fact
@chaohsiangchen
dont quote or comment about our political situation lets face it u have no right
the goverment we have in charge at the momment isnt the one we voted for its the one we recieved when tony blair stepped down and we got gordon friggin brown the one eye troll
and if his goverment system wants to implement this then i wouldnt be suprised and actually think in light of the baby P incident this is a step in the right way as part of the "drastic shake up" that weve been promised for all too long
and with regards to a revolt theres little to revolt for
riots in the street over what?
the guys in charge screwed up no one who wants in could do much better
FACT
about the biggest thing is being part of the sodding EU that would be the only reason to riot and us leaveing that is NEVER going to happen no matter who we vote for

There are a lot of wacko families out there, that should not even raise up any children!

But who in the world is going to monitor them? I'd spray all the cams that come into my house with black paint!
Let's see if they plan to come to replace/clean that cam every week!

Most likely it are those people who're just too wacko to be left alone, but are too normal to be taken into a nuthouse...

Whilst this is a ridiculous situation, it is not for people from other countries to make comment without taking a look at the situation in their own country first. Every country has it's issues, Britain included. And anyone who gets all overly patriotic wants to be wary of coming across xenophobic and most likely racist. Usually these are the same people who have no fucking idea what actually happens outside of their own little world. And, without wanting to start a great big international flaming match, I have it on good authority that the U.S. news reports on little else other than the U.S.

I'd also like to point out to my countrymen that don't like the UK that it is, for the most part, an awesome place to live. Try and educate yourselves on the entire world situation and our place in it. Whether we aren't the greatest country in the world is irrelevant. I'm guessing you are the same sad fuckers that complain about the amount of tax you pay every month (assuming you're employed) and then bitch about the lack of police or the fact that your bins only get emptied fortnightly. Ignorant dickheads. Try and look at the bigger picture.

I have a great respect for all countries and their citizens, and the pros and cons of different ways of life. No respect at all for the ignorant though.

And if you're gonna slag off Gordon Brown, use your own words, not Jeremy Clarksons. You penis.

Im buying a AR15 and killing any government crony that tries to tread on me.

It is a shame that the trust and family values have sunk that low that the government has had to take over the parenting roll for these families. Not knowing the full story realy makes it hard to coment on. You already have security locks,gates and cameras in homes that are conected to security componies for the rich and powerful if the need for these things to be implemented on a select few in neiberhoods,apartment blocks (I dont know) I am all for personal privacy and the family unit working to raise there children with out the so-called experts takeing over the rights of the mother and father role But seriusly the way the atitudes and all the teechings that our modern sociaty are programing our children they are running a muck both mother and father have to work the children have to fend for them selves and they are lerning how to be criminals at a younger age they are missing out on a propper family unity. the children are running to their day care centry minders and there nanneys before they embrace their real parents sociaty in general is ruining our way of life
Just like the global crash you gave big buisness all the freedom to regulate them selves and they got too greedy and brought down the aconamy. If families do not have the back up of grand parents,and relatives to help out in family crisis then how can they expect to nurchure the family unit for the better
Once you go down the path of takeing away peoples rights then you start to promote a policed STATE

@ukgooey
yours bins get done fornightly? poor you
griml0cked raised some good points
this is to prevent helping childrens deaths
the people targeted by this will be on many police lists for many different things
this is no more a invasion of privacy than tagging someone with those ankle tags to know where they are
or putting someone on the sex offenders list
i for one know my neighbour needs to be cctv'd i also know he would sell the cameras for some money for more white lightning

the jeremy clarkson quote is apt because he is a one eyed troll
he has no idea what hes doing
this has clearly been shown if u watch any interview by him or look into that wonderful youtube incident with him
i aslo agree with clarksons decision not to appologise
i wouldnt have

u mention xenophobes
so far ive seen most people on a american site say that this wouldnt happen to them because of a bill of rights they have
something that has been changed quite a few times by your supreme chourts i believe in amendments?
britan isnt perfect no one said it is
infact most british ppl on here who made a comment agreed this is a good thing and a good step forward
what would u rather pay for cctv in well known criminals house holds? or the prison system our country has
where in some cases they sent them to tropical destinations in warm sunny places in a attempt to get them to see the wrong of their ways
thats the sun news paper that ran that by the way sometimes they do get things right
also as a final note
where is britans place in the world?
u seem to know in a time when even our own goverment is confused and doesnt seem to know
so please enlighten me

Those Euro-f@gs can do what ever they want. They're all dumb pricks in the end.

Placing camera's in their own homes. that's just silly

[citation][nom]LePhuronn[/nom]some of the scum families over here need to be monitored 24/7 so we know where they are and what they're doing. I can think of 3 in my street who are prime candidates. The only problem I have is the expense - I'm already paying for their drug and booze abuse through their unemployment benefit and now I have to pay again.[/citation]
I completely agree with the part I quoted... as to the expense, make the family pay for it out of their income, not a flat fee but proportional to their income and take it straight out of their pay. If these people are already on welfare (if they have that over there) then they've already screwed up too much. Take the kids away and send the parent(s) to a work camp where they can pay off their debt to society and maybe one day earn their freedom.

With the amount of cameras already in britan cities this is not surprising at all. Its also probably just the beginning. Pick a problem area that will have the least resistance to having the cameras installed. Once you have your foot int he door, keep expanding till they are in all homes. Dont think it will happen? Short of an uprising you can bet your arse it will.

And dont think it will stop in the uk. Weve been gradually having our freedoms stepped on in the last decade or so in the US as well. We're probably about 5-15 years behind the uk in terms of camera surveillance. If anything tho its a window into our future. It WILL happen here as well, again short of an uprising, it will happen.

When it does happen it wont be the fault of any governments. It will be the fault of the PEOPLE who didnt stop it when they could. To butcher a quote... Those who are willing to sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

@sublifer
I really hope you don't live in America. Never once in the article did it state that the families were criminal. Just problem or antisocial (I have had loud redneck neigbors too!). I guess with no constitution they can do that. Over here however... we do have a Constitution and it states that we have the liberty to live as we want. As long as the children are not being abused or something, then let parent be parents. My family was poor growing up, and my mom did just fine. Sure I didnt always have a hot meal, but I had clean clothes and I knew how to get to school. I think people can do just fine without "big brother".
Forgive me if I am taking you out of context.

[citation][nom]sublifer[/nom]Take the kids away and send the parent(s) to a work camp where they can pay off their debt to society and maybe one day earn their freedom.[/citation]

You can kick it up a notch by saying that gates of all bad parent work camps will have a sign of "Arbeit Macht Frei."
