[citation][nom]LePhuronn[/nom]And what exactly does that have to do with this CCTV article?[/citation]

Oh, I believe the health care shit is one of the many horrible ideas that our government has come up with. There are a lot of things the Federal Government does that is outside of their power, according to the United States Constitution, but they do it anyways.

People just need to understand that this camera bullshit is absolutely possible with the track we are currently on.

Next thing they will put cameras in the toilets, monitoring our shit in case they detect something in the stools to prevent us from getting cancer. All in the name of science and "our" shake, lol!

I can't help but laugh at all the Brits telling non-Brits to "mind their own business" about what is an internal British issue. Here in the states, we're quite accustomed to everybody and their dog having a damned opinion about what goes on in our government.

We bail them out in WWII and now they go big brother seek and heil on us. Good god, it's appalling. This is spark that revelations are built on. The UK will be forever changed, if Obama pulls this BS here in America there will be massive riots of epic proportions. They are going down a dangerous path here, they will see unrest.

To quote the Brits -- Here here! hahah.

These are some phenomenal cameras if they can tell a proper meal from an improper meal. I think this is more of an attempt to ease invasion of privacy onto the common citizen. Next it will be for spousal abuse, then drunk drivers, then certain zip codes, then for income tax reductions, necessary for fire and safety protection of their citizens, etc..

Hmmm.... so apparently no one in Britian reads Orwell? I could understand, well know I guess I don't. I was going to say that if these parents were somehow proven to be incompetent to raise their children alone, then the cameras are alright. But if the parents are incompetent, then why aren't the kids taken away and placed in foster care? Say what you want about foster care but if these parents are so bad, at least foster care homes receive checkups and such.

One thing I just now noticed actually:

The story you cited was from Wired, but Wired and the Toms Article BOTH cite an article from the Daily Express.

The Daily Express is in fact the paper that originally published this story, and they cite nothing in their own article about it. A little research shows that the Daily Express is, according to wikipedia, a "conservative tabloid." In fact one of the former owners stated he ran the Daily Express with the intention of spreading propaganda, nothing more (his name, believe it or not, was Lord Beaverbrook).

When the story has merely been spread around, and no one else, not even another british newspaper (any of the real, non tabloid papers) has picked up on it, somehow I doubt this is real.

Even more so, the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the department that the article says is running the program, doesn't have this in their news releases.

If the guy who is supposed to be doing this, Ed Balls (the name of the Secretary of Children, Schools, and Families) isn't saying he's doing it on his own website, but merely a tabloid is saying its happening, I wonder if this is true.

It all depends on who does the viewing. If it is entirely in the parents control and only can be viewed from inside the home (with permission) then it's more like a video baby monitor. If it's anything else (any external access, government watches it, mandatory, etc) then it is BAD (to say the least). The details do matter.

Wow!! I truly hope this is false. If the children are in harms way remove them. Also, unless convicted how is this even possible? Can you be forced to wear an ankle bracelet or other monitoring device without being convicted there?

I spent a fair amount of time researching this yesterday and I can not find anything the substantiate the claims that CCTV will be placed in the homes. The earliest article is from the daily express in the UK which was posted days after a post on BBC regarding Ed Balls seeking money to split between placing 20,000 "problem families" into social housing and the other part of the money to be spent on curbing anti-social behavior. I can not find anything in regards to placing CCTV in the projects or anyone's home in general.

It might happen but I can not substantiate this claim.

WTF? - it's only for families, that does not care about the children and uses them to get social support money. And I strongly support such things, most of them are not worth the privacy for not taking care for children.

[citation][nom]dingumf[/nom]Those Euro-f@gs can do what ever they want. They're all dumb pricks in the end. Placing camera's in their own homes. that's just silly[/citation]

You stupid americans are too ignorant to understand that the EU is in no way like america, EU is not a country!!! We're not Europeans Like you are Americans, to call us European is to call people from Canada, USA and Mexico, Americans. The EU is composed of 27 countries each as it's own constitution, and there's the EU constitution. Don't generalise and call everyone in Europe Europeans, that's just fu**ing ignorant

[citation][nom]phillipmeyers99[/nom]We bail them out in WWII and now they go big brother seek and heil on us.[/citation]

As I recall learning the US only entered the WWII after being bombed by the japanese in pearl harbour... Before being attacked you just stayed in your corner waiting!!!

By the way I'm not even British, here in europe we have more cultural diversity than you there in the US. People here don't call themselves European. British are British, French are French, etc... If you don't know what I'm talking about visit Europe and find out!!!
