Hi,
I had two laptops but one broke (motherboard failure) after a AMD graphics card driver update. So after that i proceeded to use the other newer laptop. I usually only watch youtube and browse the internet. I have a antivirus software installed and i visit only safe sites.

But after a month the new laptop started bluescreening when watching youtube on firefox (haven't tested other browsers). I've done some research on the error code and found out that it might be due to corrupted/bad graphics card drivers.

The new laptop has an AMD gpu too so i'm scared the motherboard failure might happen again if i update the GPU drivers. I have also done the system file checkup function and it said it found some corrupted files and had fixed them but it didn't resolve the issue. And the question is what should i do? should i update the drivers? or is there some other way?

Here's some additional info:
Brand: HP
Model: 15-g082no
Age: little over a year
Usage: Seldomly (after previous laptop broke it has been in use everyday)
OS: Windows 8.1
CPU: AMD Quad-Core A8-6410 APU
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8570M

Solution
Updating drivers should not cause a GPU to fail. Over heating would though. So the timing between your update and the failure was probably just coincidence.

It should be safe to update your drivers.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply. The laptop that failed did get quite hot despite there being no dust in the heatsink. The new laptop is incredibly cool (40-50°c). The fan also never raises speed exept when gaming but only a little. So heat shouldn't be and issue. It also seems that the BSOD seems to be happening only on firefox. And i found out that disabling hardware acceleration on firefox should get rid of the problem.
