Aloha to you,

Newbie here. Have a 5555. I am trying to connect to the net via BT. I was
able to pair the PPC to my PC without any problem. When I try to get to the
internet, I get a network log on page:

Resource: BT Network Access
User name:
Password:
Domain:

Where do I get this info? Any and all 411 would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Marvin

Don't enter anything on this page, simply check the Remember password box
and OK.

Aloha to you,

Thanks for responding. When I tried to do that, I got as far as a "The
answering modem has disconnected. To check your connnection settings and
change them if needed, tap Settings."

At the moment, connected via BT Network Access to my home pc (win xp home)

Hope this makes sense.

Once again, TIA

Marvin

You say "At the moment, connected via BT Network Access"... but just before
you say that "The answering mode has disconnected".

I suppose you're not connected then? The two sentences conflict...

Do you have a personal firewall on this machine?

Hi,

I was in the middle of doing this myself this morning...

This is what I have done however, I set-up most of the BT settings a while
ago and cannot remember what I changed exactly. therefore you might need to
do additional steps if what you see does not correspond with my steps
below...

I use Win XP with ipaq 2210. It is my work desktop connected to the
Internet via a local LAN.

1. Ensure you have the BT Network access service on your win XP
2. On your Internet connection (the PPP?) enable the ICS (In my case, this
is my corp LAN NIC)
2a. Your 'second' NIC (The BT network NIC) will be given the IP address
192.168.0.1. Add a DNS server...
3. Configure the PPC to connect, via BT, to a 'Connect to the Internet'
connection
4. On the next page select the first option (via LAN)
5. Search for the device and tap the device
6. The PPC will discover the service. Click Finish
6a The service will try to connect. If it connects, fine, if not,
continue...
7. Go into 'BT Connection Settings' on the PPC and select Advanced
8. Select 'Select Networks'
9. Select Edit for your Bluetooth settings
10. select edit on the next page
11. select next twice
12. You should now be at the user name page. Select Advanced
13. Click on the TCP/IP tab
14. You have the choice of using DHCP or a static address. Personally, I
use a static address in
the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet
15. select the Servers tab and type in a DNS server
16 Tap OK, then Finish, then OK, then OK, then OK

17. Start the Internet connection from BT Manager

Assuming that Mauricio is right, following his instructions should get you
passed the Authentication stage. Personally, I use a user name and
password, but that may be redundant!

I can now surf the Internet over BT. I had a connection problem - i had an
alias on my corp LAN NIC which was stopping the routing of packets. Also,
the DNS server I used was down!

A great app for testing network connectivity is vxUtil and it is free!

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Mike.

Aloha Mauricio,

It does seem to contradict itself, that is true.

I have a firewall on my PC. Would that do it? How would I remedy that
situation?

As before, thanks for all your help.

That's is correct, if the server you're connecting to is supoprting LAP (LAN
Access over PPP).
