Building a new home

I am building a modern weekend home in upper CT. I would like to make it as smart as possible without it being crazy expensive (after all, it's a weekend home). We will use Savant or Control4 when we build our primary home, but for now am wondering if there is anything less expensive. I am tech literate which has caused a problem: I see pro's and cons with Wink and Smartthings. I have been leaning heavily towards Smartthings because of it's freedom to add almost anything.

All articles I read are about outfitting an existing home to be smart.

What I am asking is:
if you were building a new home and EVERYTHING is new (even TVs), what whole home platform would you use???
Thanks!!!

I think you will find that no consumer home control system is going to be as good as the Savant or Control4 in terms of flexibility or reliability. There are some less expensive options like URC or RTI.
