My car radio won’t work and I can’t afford a new one. Is there a way to bypass radio and play an auxiliary device directly through the speakers

If nothing from your car radio works, you can use only the car speakers, and you'll need an amplifier for that. "Bypassing" in that case means pulling the speaker wires off the radio, into the new amp.

If your radio' amp is working (eg you can use radio but not CD player), you can see how to "hack" it to provide for AUX input, where you can plug your phone.
