Not so much a question as sharing a solution.
My Panasonic SD700 camcorder suddenly starting to shut down every time after about ten seconds of operation. A search of other forums showed that others had a similar problem, but no solutions other than an expensive repair job. A closer look at the unit showed that the wire screen behind the grille had become dislodged and was impeding the fan blade. No fan, no cool, no can go! Using a sharp point, I fished the screen out through the grille and started the unit. All worked. As I could not re-install the screen behind the grille, I cleaned it and fixed it on the outside with some small dabs of Araldite. Not so pretty but still effective.
