Can i connect my Xboc One with just my laptop (windows 10) and the HDMI cable?

i dont have a TV or monitor that has HDMI, all i have is a windows 10 laptop that has an HDMI input. i went onto the xbox app and clicked connect, but it says i need to go in my xbox settings and get the IP. The problem is, i dont have another screen to connect the xbox too. can i reach the xbox's IP address without needing a modem ?

You can log into your router and see what ip addresses it has given out and test each one to see if it is your xbox.

As for your original question, your laptops hdmi port it output only, there is no way to make it work the other way round
