Can I get surround from Sony KDL-55W957B to Panasonic SC-HT67 with a digital audio decoder?

I couldn't figure it out, but after looking everywhere, I can't understand if a digital audio decoder (like this one http/amzn.com/B008EPW7O0 or this one http/amzn.com/B0021QBIBQ) with a Toslink from the TV and a RCA to the AVR can do the trick to get surround in my 5.1 audio system.

The thing is, as I'm using my TV as a hub, and the AVR only has RCA L/R inputs, I would like to know if the AVR is capable to decode (or code?) the incoming audio from the RCA to get surround (ie from my PS4 connected to my TV).

Is this possible? or regardless what I use, I will get stereo audio.

Thank you for your help. Once I get this solved, I'll decide either to buy the audio decoder (desirable) or change the AVR (less desirable).

The surround system doesn't have digital inputs so if you use the DACs listed in the links you will be sending it a stereo signal. You can get some surround effects using the remote to select different surround modes some of which are for a stereo source. the audio or sound field buttons on the remote might help. Check the owners manual.
