The GT 840M isn't much a of a gaming GPU, but I imagine it could get away with some 'very low' GTA 5 and be playable and smooth.

It should be fine to play GTA 5 at 1366x768 with Normal settings which are the lowest graphic settings in the game. See below video, actual performance should be higher because most Youtubers use software to record while playing so there is a performance hit. How much? Unknown. Probably 15% - 20% when not recording.

It'll run decently on normal settings - GTAV actually does pretty well on old hardware. I ran it on a GT 640 2 GB card and it ran smoothly.

Everything Normal, 1280x720 and if the frame rate is to low turn it down to 1024x768
