Can I still play music through speakers or headphones on my laptop if there isn't a sound card installed?

No you can't, but you are asking the wrong question.

You should be asking "my laptop is saying there is no soundcard installed, how can I fix that?" and list all details about when/why this happened along with your laptop brand and model.
