I recently bought Chromecast for my living room TV .I don't watch movies etc from my phone as I would rather see them on my big screen TV. I'm new to streaming and would like to know how to stream from sources like Hula and Sony. I also have hardwired my dish box to my PC with Ethernet cable. I bought Chromecast thinking I needed it to stream. Please help

You should be able to stream from your phone to the TV with the Chromecast.
Chromecast has apps for Hulu and Sony Vue so you should not need your phone at all for those.
Not sure what connecting the Dish box to your PC with an ethernet cable is about. More likely that connection was meant to go from the Dish box to your network.
