Windows version is only important to note in terms of being 32 or 64 bit OS, because 32 bit only supports a small amount of RAM in comparison to 64 bit, and the motherboards in most consumer models support RAM upgrades by a small amount, due to usually only carrying one stick of pre-installed memory in a slot that normally supports double what's already in it.
