My cd player and computer just got hit by lightning. I was using these to play cds and get music from the web for the church sound board. could I use a smart blu ray player to feed the computer monitor and grab the audio for the sound board? I have usb input (along with 1/4 inch and XLR) on the board and DVI on the monitor. this time I will use the surge protector on both... Will a HDMI pigtail get me where I want to go? I have not purchased a player yet - trying to decide how high tech I need to go, if HDMI with a pigtail will get it done or I need to go back a generation and get one with RCA outs for audio and vidio.

You can still get a Bluray player with analog out but at a price:

You could use one of these on any bluray to extract the audio

and would need an HDMI to DVI connector for the display.
Since you were using a PC for web based music it is unlikely that the websites you used have apps on the Bluray. Why not get a low end PC and use that to play CDs and obtain web music. If it has DVI out (they all have analog...

If it has DVI out (they all have analog out) then it won't need any adapters. You can even rip the CDs to it and create playlists. Of course a laptop with optical drive would work too.
