Can I wipe a Toshiba harddrive clean and use a HP boot disk on it?

I got a Toshiba Hard Drive and HP Laptop.. I was wondering if I U could wipe the hard drive clean and use a HP Windows Boot disk on it?

As long as it's the same connection. Sata, msata, etc. Brand name does not matter.

boot disk? you mean recovery disk? no, it will only work with the same laptop that it was build from.
