I recently bought an ASUS F554LA-WS52 laptop. I believe it is the same as the ASUS F555LA models that are out there.

The laptop has Intel HD Graphics 5500.

You can see it here: ASUS F554LA-WS52.

I want to upgrade the display to a glossy 1920x1080 with IPS if possible.

I don't mind finding/buying a different cable, I'm just having a difficult time figuring out if the chipset of this laptop can handle the upgraded display.

You can see the back of my existing screen and the connector here: back of display

Thanks in advance!

If you get the same model that ASUS used for the 1080p models, it should.
It is just like connecting an external display with a higher resolution. The hardware supports it.
But, it is not officially supported, so double check the type of connector your display uses and make sure the one you buy will have the same.
