can not stop on going download

Hi. I downloaded a file from email some few weeks ago, the thing keeps on downloading showing the status bar. I tried to delete the email but the problem persists. It slows down the system and eats up the battery. Can any one help on this.

If this is on a phone go to downloads and cancel it, if on a computer close the browser

Thats either malware or a virus you need a good cleaner.

yes,by all means do an av scan as well as scan with malwarebytes for starters.if this doesnt get rid of it download and run a scan with hijack this and post a log.do not fix anything just yet with hijack this. what are you running for protection?

If it's an Android phone, open your App drawer and select "Downloads". Check the one that's downloading and delete it. That should stop it. Otherwise you can go into Settings > Apps > Switch to the "All" Tab (scroll to the left or right) > Locate Downloads and Download Manager > Disable them, Clear Cache, and Clear Data (if possible).

1. Open up Settings
2. Go to Apps
3. Open up "All" tab
4. Find Download manager
5. Force close , clear data, but don't disable

I could have been more clear. I've disabled, rebooted, and re-enabled the service myself in similar situations. Probably not necessary though. Thanks.
