Can't get icons or game to work visually on tv/moniter

I have hooked my Coby tv to my e machine tower to use as a moniter. With the vga port I can get my icons and some games to work but not my internet game of Neverwinter so I got a hdmi port and hooked it up that way, now I have only a curser and wall paper. How can I get my t.v. to act as a full moniter at all things?

Is that your only display? How is it connected to the computer? Sounds like you either have two displays connected or you have more than one output from the computer going to the TV.
