Can't get sound through HDMI ARC with my tv

Hi,

My tv (Philips 49PUS7909/12) won't give sound to my home cinema system (Jbl Cinema SB400) I'm trying to connect it with HDMI ARC but it doesn't work.

However with an optical cable it works fine.

Any solutions?

Is there any setting on the soundbar that may need to be selected to pass through the audio?

Oh from what I read in the manual you just connect an hdmi from your tv to one of the hdmi ports on the soundbar not the ARC because that's for audio out and then you pair the soundbar to the sub wirelessly.

Thankyou for your time, I also tried putting it in the other HDMI ports still no sound. I checked both manuals for a special setting, but both don't mention any. The soundbar works via bluetooth and optical. But no sound from HDMI in any position.

Also changed the HDMI cable but no result.

You have the soundbar set to the right source? If you plug the tv into hdmi 1 you should use the source button to change the soundbar to hdmi 1

SOLVED!

I have added my playstation to the soundbar and after that the tv recognized my soundbar. So for some reason he didn't recognize the soundbar but when adding another device to the soundbar while still connected to the tv via HDMI ARC it suddenly worked.

I now even removed the playstation from the soundbar and restarted both devices (soundbar and tv) and it still connected.
