Cant turn on presario r3000 laptop

Hello,
The laptop won't turn on or it doesn't stay on. My compaq presario r3000 just blinks when I press the power button. And the few times it does come on it never stays on for long, sometimes long enough for me to put in a password or 15 minutes tops. I have bought three different batteries and two power cords. I keep the cord plugged in 24/7 because if it is unplugged for even a second the laptop won't turn on from lack of power.

Could be a cooling issue. If the laptop is getting to hot it will shut down and won't power up right away. This is caused by a failed fan or a loose heat sink.

If your batteries arn't charging at all, then you may also have other serious issues.
