My DVD suddenly stopped being able to play on my laptop. I read various articles onliine, and one of the suggestions was to uninstall the CD/DVD drive then restart and Windows 10 will automatically reinstall, but, i have restarted several times and i can no longer see my CD/DVD drive in the device manager.

How do i reinstall it please.

Hi

See if you can get into bios and if the bios can see the dvd drive
If not you have a hardware fault
Occasionally a bad connection can be cured by physically removing the dvd drive and replacing it. Often only one screw locates drive

If drive seen by bios see if you can boot off a bootable cd or dvd
Eg windows 10 dvd
To confirm dvd drive works

It is possible the registry is corrupted
Try googling
Upper filter driver windows 10

For a fix , only download software to fix problem from Microsoft
