Cd dvd rom drive not detected

I have a Toshiba laptop and it is not detecting the internal cd/dvd rom that came with the computer can any one help me with this problem.

Try removing the upper/lower filters:

Is the drive detected in the BIOS? If not then try removing the drive and refitting, it is not uncommon for there to be a bad connection to the drive. If it is seen in the BIOS then the fault is with Windows and you should try this Microsoft web site.
