What a fan-geezer. What was he doing on C-SPAN??? Clearly, he wandered into the wrong studio. The C-SPAN host asked him a question about the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act and he started into a rant about how much he likes the Droid.

Actually, DARPA has records of going back to the mid to early 40s of portable cellular communications.

Cooper designed the first handheld version. He really didn't invent anything new.

Haha

Cell phone technology was around a long time before he made the mobile handset. He didn't invent it.

Much like Apple invented nothing with the iPhone. They just slapped together a bunch of existing technologies with chicken wire and duct tape and called it a product.

and then also accused companies of copyright 😉

it's not who literally came up with the technology... simply who's remembered for having commercialized or marketed the tech first! or in some cases, the person everyone believes to have been the inventor... (internet/web browser 'inventor(s)'?)

Windows Phone. LOL. Windows is deader than dead in the phone market. Right Now it's Mac OS Mobile vs. Android. Mac OS feels smoother and more polished, but Android seems more powerful since it's built on Linux and Open Source. I'm thinking of trading my iPhone for an Android myself....

When the iPhone came out, it was ok.. It wasnt until they released the 3G that it became the best phone on the market. But that was almost 2 years ago. Anyone buying a phone right now should not be getting an iPhone.. I say this as someone who has an iPhone 3G. Ive had it 2 years and I love it.. But I wouldnt buy it again today.. Its the same basic phone they released 3 years ago, if the new iPhone coming out doesnt have anything special, I'll likely be getting another HTC phone.. I hated WinMo6, but maybe I'll get Windows Phone 7 if its as good as they say.. Otherwise, I'll be going from the iPhone to a Android phone just like Mr. Cooper.

As long as we're talking about phone OS's, don't forget about WebOS. It doesn't get as much hype and play as Android, but it's arguably slicker and easier to use, and still Linux-based. No other OS (with the possible exception of WP7) does multi-tasking as well or as easily, and the UI is extremely intuitive.

Yup...just like Al Gore didn't invent the Internet...

Well, the headline is a little misleading. That's not the first time that has happened. What I find interesting is that the fact the man is trying out a Droid is considered to be newsworthy.
