Chromebook HDMI connection to magnavox tv

I have been trying to connect my acer chromebook to a magnavox tv and it has not been working. I have connected this chrombook to my other tv using the same chord and it has worked. What other things could I try?

It could be something as simple as the cable, unless of course when you said you tried it on another tv and it worked, that was a typo.

It was a typo.. The cord worked fine on everything else
