Chromecast to access your local media?

Can you connect your chromecast to your wireless network to access your own media, eg a harddrive connected to your router?

No, you can only stream to the Chromecast. The Chromecast isn't able to read from anything on a network.

If you can display it in your Chrome browser, you should be able to cast it.
