I won't argue that. However, the following may be of interest to current
Cingular EDGE - Sony Ericsson GC82 users:
As I understand it, the Data Connect product and drivers, previously offered
with the Sony-Ericsson GC82 EDGE PC card were apparently not tuned for
optimal throughput. Cingular has released a version of CCM (Cingular
Connection Manager) that includes optimized settings and drivers for the
GC82. It is available as a free download at Cingular's website. See the link
