So i bought a ML1220 cmos battery at ebay for $2.99 and its not rechargeable. So my question is

Is it okay to changed the CMOS battery from rechargeable to non- rechargeable?

Can i leave my laptop open (24-7) with non rechargeable cmos?

Please advice me

Thanks

Solution
Hi, if you bought a real ML1220 battery, it is rechargeable. But if you bought an eBay replacement and it is not rechargeable, you need to install a genuine ML1220 battery.
If your laptop tries to charge a non-rechargeable CMOS, there is a very good chance that the cell will fail catastrophically. At best this will leak corrosive acid around in inside of your laptop and cause major damage. At worst, the cell will explode and catch fire.
Buy the correct replacement battery.
