i recently got an new receiver and the only way to send audio from my tv to it is by an audio coaxial cable and i dident have one so a friend gave me one and on the cable its self it says sub woofer cable and he said he used it for normal speakers, so is it safe and will it work like a normal cable

Solution
The cable cannot damage anything but it may not work. If the output of your TV is a single coax cable it is digital and the cable may not pass this signal. Usually a subwoofer interconnect cable is the same as a standard audio cable but mono rather than stereo. A cheap coax digital cable can be made from RG59 or RG6 antenna wire (both 75 ohm impedance which is important) and the correct RCA connectors for this kind of wire.
