Solved! Colored/Vertical Lines on Lenovo Ideapad

Issue:

Booted up laptop last night, monitor shows vertical lines.

* Hooked it up to external monitor (TV) through HDMI, sound, keyboard, everything works fine.
* Went into device manager, no ! points next to video card.

I believe it is a broken monitor? I keep a cooling fan pad underneath.

Well it could be the display or it could be the cable that connects the display. Either way, it will require opening up the device and checking this. If the device is under warranty, contact the manufacturer. If it isn't, then you can either try and do the work yourself, or take it to a local tech.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I had thought. Sorry to ask again, Opening and checking the cable is the only way to eliminate if it is the cause? I'm assuming its not the answer I'm hoping for.

Well, it could be the cable is just loose. So you would need to disconnect it at both ends and then reconnect it. However, it could also be damaged, pinched, etc. And if not the cable, then the display itself could be going.
