Are you serious? You are bragging that you were forced to buy something to correct an issue with a brand new phone? I hate Apple cultists. Makes me cringe.
 
Why not coat the sides of your iPhone with a clear acrylic paint/coating? If done properly, it should be almost unnoticeable, but prevent you from closing the antenna circuit with your hand.

Buying a case of some kind to protect your phone from damage is one thing. Having to buy one so it will work is a whole other thing.
