Compaq presario 1200 lid/screen switch

Can anyone tell me where this switch is located?

I removed the cover and keyboard and top power trim strip and searched for a normal button switch and can't find one so I'm guessing it's the magnetic type but I can't find the magnet either. I've run a paper clip over the entire body and lid and no sign of anything magnetic at all.

The power and battery lights come on but the machine is stone dead so want to check the lid switch as first option.

Hi, it will be easier to try an external monitor instead. If the lid switch is the problem, if you go in the BIOS, you will have a picture on the external monitor.
