Compatibility issue with Samsung TV and Acer Swift 3 laptop

I am trying to connect my Acer Swift 3 laptop to a Samsung TV via HDMI but the TV keeps saying mode not supported - resolution not supported. Change the resolution of the external device.

I have tried all the different resolutions in the display settings and Intel graphics settings, drivers are all good, the TV works with a different laptop (Dell) and the Acer laptop projects via HDMI on a Sharp TV so it seems both are working they just won't work together. How can I get round this?

It is possible that that TV and that laptop just won't go together. It does happen. I would contact Samsung and see if they have a work around for it.
