My home desktop just died and I want to replace with a laptop...I use it for personal budgets resumes, email, photos...I need a hd...don't want to spend over $500 as someone talked me into this tablet which I don't like

Yes, you can connect an external keyboard and display. The Asus also has a built-in wireless adapter and would do nicely on the road (in the field).

It's better than nothing...I just want to make a better decision with a laptop...I don't have a clue about computers and don't want to make another purchase without some insight...any suggestion

No...can't return it, but that's ok...the asus you recommended sounds great...perhaps a silly question...can I attach my keyboard and monitor...and will it take a wireless card...the last question was from my work partner...we would like to take to the field with us for work...thanks for all your help and the rest of the folks on this site

Yes, there is an empty memory slot available on the laptop I linked. You could easily add more memory.
