Computer won't come on?!

Hello,
I have a HP G-71 series. It won't come on. I bought a new charger because the old one went out & now my laptop won't come on. It comes to the HP screen then shuts off completely. HP says it's probably the motherboard, any other suggestions as to what it might be?! Anything is helpful

nothing really. the only troubleshooting that can be done with a laptop is pull the battery. typical HP product

remove battery and see if it charges with the charger only

its not a battery problem if the laptop starts
