That's because you can't change the battery, you don't USB support, they don't have SD crd support, in other words they are $200.00 cheaper on average because they've taken away the $200.00 worth of hardware, that Xoom has, hence the price difference, so get over it, just apply has gotten over it's consumers and selling a lie. Look the iPad is a genius work of art, and it does what it does, but there are former iDevice users that after having gotten sophisticated with there iDevice, started looking for more but couldn't get. They have jumped ship to Android, as I suspect my iDevice have and will continue to do so.

All the hate kills me. I went back to a Macbook Pro because the design is superior (sorry, every laptop I have used in the past couple of years is designed for people to hate, and then to fall apart). I just don't get the hate really, if you don't like it, don't use it, not a single person will ever force you to use their products.

I've used PCs for years, I have worked in IT for over 10 years, I think they have the better product. Let Dell/HP/Lenovo and any others build to the quality of a unibody Macbook Pro and I guarantee you the costs will go up. Are you guys all envious of Apple or something? You all seem to get so butthurt over trivial matters.

agreed...i hate apple but you can't fault them for knowing how to cater to thier market.....instead of just taking the latest tech. shoving it in a device and saying this is a must have

2007, apple invented the iphone... Before the iphone we had a palm pilot or a blackberry, none were cool. After that every phone manufacturer has some sort of touch screen smartphone

2010, Apple invents the portable tablet. something right out of sci-fi, By the time they released ver 2, everyone else just now started in the market.

20?? Apple invents the next "must have" device and sets the standard for the entire industry to try and keep up with.


Face it android fans, you would still be using small screen pen stylus bulky lame blackberry phones if it wasn't for apple and iOS and standards set by the iphone.

I'm tired of all the comments about no USB ports on the iPad.

You can hook up a wireless keyboard, your camera and musical instruments to the ipad, sure USB connectivity for other devices could be useful, but apart from transferring files, it is hardly critical for a tablet.

@neiro, you are implying that the iphone wasn't cool? It was a bloody revelation, and nearly every phone has copied it since. It was far from perfect, but it changed an entire industry, and everyone else has been scrambling to make a similar device since.

Sure, there were tablets before the iPad, I used fujitsu tablet PCs for the last 10 years, and they were the undisputed leader, but they required a stylus, had relatively short battery life and were heavy.
Apple made a truly lightweight, ultra responsive tablet with 7-10hours of battery life, and priced it extremely low.
For all the haters that say how overpriced it is, where is the competition?? Show me all the 10" tablets that are as lightweight, as responsive, as good a touchscreen and display that are cheaper than the ipad? They have all had a year to come up with one, so where are they?

Oh right, there aren't any. The iPad is not overpriced, otherwise there would be a flood of better specced, cheaper ones from competitors, and there simply isn't.

And for god sake grow up and get over the name.
