Concept Lamp Doubles as Power Source

From the title, I thought this might be about one of those solar lights that provides power back to the grid during the day. Nope. This isn't a power source; it's a multi-outlet tap, is all, and apparently one requiring kludgy proprietary adapters. No thanks.

Those aren't "kludgy proprietary adapters". Those are 220 outlets used in Europe and all of the ones I used while I was there were circular.

Having an electrical outlet multiplier in a lamp (or in any electronic device) is a good idea. This is like your keyboard having USB ports. There would be way less cable mess if I didn't have to use so many extension cords / powerbars just to get my various electronics plugged in and I could just daisy chain at least some of them. I'm surprised this wasn't 'invented' earlier.

While it's a clever design concept, I don't think it's groundbreaking. Many hotels have built-in outlets on their desk and bedside lamps so that guests don't have to crawl under the desk or grope behind the bed to plug things in.

With this lamp, the attached cords would be on the floor (inconvenient access) and splayed out at all angles (ugly). Also, having a fluorescent tube plugged in the top like that seems very fragile. Ever broken one? (Nasty!)

Finally, someone figured out how to put electrical outlets on a lamp. An advancement like this would not have been possible without nano technology, micro-processors, and Apple (since it's white it MUST be inspired by Apple).

This is by far the worst, most pointless and inappropriate article I have ever seen on this website. This isn't news, it isn't even remotely interesting technology, it's a lamp with plugs, and you got it wrong in the article, not even proprietary plugs, just European plugs. It's like you just looked at the picture and wrote a story. The title is so crappy and miss leading, it's like if Fox news was trying to do technology articles.

They missed their mark with this.

If it was a faux lightsaber on display up there and a surge protector power-tap down below, this thing would be a hit!
