I am trying to connect a very basic Phillips soundbar with only RCA audio inputs, no HDMI or optical to a Dynex TV that is connected via HDMI to a WOW Arris Cable box/dvr via HDMI. I've tried all different combinations with the RCA cables, from the box to the soundbar and from the tv to the soundbar but nothing works. Any help would be great, thank you

As HDMI is a digital only signal, and RCA is an analog signal only, you would need some kind of D2A converter/amp to accomplish your goal.

Oftentimes, it simply means your TV doesn't have the connector that the SB requires. I see an (inexpensive) "optical to RCA" converter in your future.

Is there such a thing as an HDMI to RCA converter as neither the tv or the soundbar have optical inputs or outputs?

There is a thing called "hdmi audio splitter" and your TV hdmi must be of the ARC kind. I have not actual experience with this.

TV has no "headphone out" either? 'cuz that will only require a cheap cable. Stereo only.
