Connecting CD player to tv

Hello. I am trying to connect my Sony CD player by HDMI cord to my Samsung smart TV but I keep getting a iMessage I have no signal check the cable connection and settings and the source device.

What is the exact model of the sony and smasung?
Are you try to play video that is on the cd?

TV won't go to an input without an active video input.
If you have an external video source (cable box etc) with an unused active video output (yellow composite video via 1 RCA cable) then connect that to the same input that the CD player audio is connected to.
