Connecting home theater with laptop

using a 3.5mm to RCA will give a true surround sound (theater typ), or dere will be degradation of sound quality. how about connecting a 5.1 channel sound card???...will dat make a great difference??

Best option is to use a soundcard with digital audio output to your surround sound system. If your surround sound has HDMI inputs then you can get a card and connect sound and picture with one cable.
