Connecting Sony Soundbar to Toshiba Tv

Hi, really need help here. I have just bought a Sony soundbar. Have it fixed up and sound plays perfectly via Bluetooth input. However when connecting it to my Toshiba Tv via the analog input with the use of 3.5 mm RCA audio cable, there's no sound coming through the soundbar at all and Tv still plays sound from its own speaker though. What am I doing wrong? Your help is much appreciated.

Toshiba tv model - 40L2400VM
Sony soundbar model - HT-CT80

Try turning the TV internal speakers off. That may turn on the analog audio output even though the owners manual doesn't mention that.
If the soundbar has optical in then use that instead. You will need to turn it on in the TV sound menu.
