So i dont want to spend much on a reciever and i also intend to buy a powered sub that also has high level inputs and outputs. What i want is a stereo reciever for my 2 bookshelf speakers and also to connect the sub. Ive seen some kind of a guide using banana plugs and banana plug splitters (or whatever is called) and im interested exactly how to do that. So please help me and thanks in advance

Solution
Connect the speaker outputs of the receiver to the speaker level inputs on the sub. Connect the speaker level outputs on the sub to you bookshelf speakers. Your receiver is powering the bookshelf speakers and the sub amp is just tapping into the signal a little bit, removing the highs and amplifying it for the subwoofer. No adapters needed.
