Connecting two devices with audio RCA into single input?

I am wondering how I could get this to work... I have a TV stereo out going into a AUX input on a Yamaha receiver. I also want to connect my echo dot via stereo RCA to that same channel so that I don't have to switch the input channel back and forth. I have tried with RCA Y splitter adapters but only one device works and not the other.

Any suggestions or ideas?

You have to switch between inputs. Using a splitter connects the TV and Dot to each other as well as the receiver.
