Core i7 720 qm vs i5 450m (1.6Ghz vs 2.4Ghz)

Hi, i'll be buying a laptop this month i really confused what to get, i always play the new titles like CoD or Crysis and i want a decent laptop to play those games and use it also to work, mainly for rendering or video editing. (adobe after effects and 3d studio max)

the problem is that i dont know if the core i7 will perform better than the i5, i know that the i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads double the i5 but will i get a better performance? cause the i5 has double the clock than the i7.

I'd recommend going with the i7, especially for video editing. Plus, it will not hurt to have it for gaming.

I agree with Kevin,720QM will perform better in video/image editing and also the games that benefit from multi-core CPUs
As for your budget,take a look at ASUS G73
