I have had Corel Paint Shop Pro on my computer since I purchased it (Yes, it is Legal). It was working for years on XP, Vista (crap), and Windows 7 and never had a problem with it. What happens only in the last couple of days is it will load about 4mb of information then quit. I have used Ccleaner to clean temps, cookies, and did a Reg Clean. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times once using zapps to do a full uninstall. I also have done two restores to an earlier date and still nothing works. I shut down just about all windows processes and restarted the PC a couple of times. I have run it in administrator, I set the compatibility to XP and nothing again. Please help as this is the place for answers on the internet....

woodenbear,

I'm a fan of Corel graphics products too, and also like to use programs as long as they can accomplish my tasks. I still use MS Office 2003, AutoCad 2007, WordPerfect X-4 (2008) and Adobe CS4 from 2009.

However, Corel presented a different situation, where I had to upgrade.

I began with Corel Graphics Suite 3 in 1993 and went from that to V5 about 1999, then V12 about 2006. Now the version is Corel Technical Designer X-5 in 2011. The reason I use the Technical Designer X-5 is that Corel, after the advent of Windows 7 declared that software made for XP would, paraphrasing, no longer run very well and would not be supported. And, this declaration proved to be true as when I began with Windows 7 Ultimate 64...

So have I. It is my main image manipulation application, aside from (recently) Lightroom.

And, this declaration proved to be true as when I began with Windows 7 Ultimate 64, there were a lot of problems and crashes with Corel Graphics 12. Under XP Pro, Suite 12 had run flawlessly.

As I say, I like to use software as long as feasible, but instead of flogging a version that in effect Corel warned may have trouble in Windows 7, my suggestion is to consider changing to this >

> which is the Corel Graphics Suite Home and Student for only $50. This probably will have all the photo editing, desktop publishing, file formats, printing, and Internet tools you might need, plus run properly on Windows 7.
