Solved! Could I buy a second hand sprint phone and have it unlocked from the carrier?

Sorry for a very broad question, but I recently moved from tmobile to sprint, never used a cdma network. Could I buy a second hand Samsung s7 or any other android phone, locked on sprint, with a clean imei; then call up sprint and ask them to unlock it, if I ever want to travel or switch to another network? Or is this only up to the original owner?

for the money look for both band phone. with both band phone all you need to do is put in a sprint sim card.
